A pleasant read

It's romance lite but not terrible. Shallow people and I did laugh when the author used the words, 'cruel twist of fate' or something like that, because it was anything but. How can the characters own homes, have money to buy acreage and build dream homes with no apparent full time jobs? I mean, she owns a bakery, but she has a full time baker helper so she can have time off when she needs it. She also owns a house and she's just 27 years of age? But I decided not to quibble and enjoy the story, such as it is, because it was a pleasant diversion.

I really try to get past grammatical errors in books obviously not professionally edited, but this was just too much. I bought it as a beach read, and my boyfriend asked me to stop reading it because I couldn't stop pointing out the obvious ("turned on her heal," "I got you're message"...). I'm writing this review having stopped at chapter 10 to check the other reviews to confirm I'm not crazy - the writing is really juvenile and therefore annoying as hell. I searched the book for the number of exclamation points and was disappointed the Kindle search couldn't get me a count, because I'm guessed it's a crazy number (several per page, often during character's internal monologues).

I tried so hard to like this book and gave it chance after chance but it was grueling. I liked the idea of the story because it seemed different than your usual romance. However, there are so many grammatical errors, repetitive type, and mixed points of view it is hard to get through. I do not like to give a bad review and I try not to say negative things about someone's work but I do not recommend this book to anyone.

Good book.

The book starts out with drum-to drum (solo) type patterns (in triplet form). On page 13 (to the end - page 44) it goes into coordination-type exercises (similar to the Jim Chapin book); however, it is written in 12/8 instead of 4/4. This makes the exercises visually more complicated. The work in the first 13 pages is good for new students (who understand eighth-note triplets), the rest of the book would be more appropriate for intermediate students.
Of course, like the Stone book, there are many ways to utilize the material - it seems drummers are always finding ways to amuse and improve themselves...me included!

Might be unnecessary

If you understand how to use Syncopation (the original book,)
you don't need this one. This book takes only a small part
of the the original book and "arranges" it for drum set.
A good drum teacher can show you how to apply many "routines"
to the original book that will yield much more material for
drum set study than you'll find in Syncopation #2.

Assists non-techies to efficiently explain their needs to IT

I have been in marketing and sales for quite a while and one of the things that I found challenging was explaining to the tech guys what information I precisely required in their lingo. Most seem to speak "third normal form" or "star schema" and "ETL" and other "tech speak". In summary, before I read Brijs' book I invested too much time in getting my point across.

With this book, I can finally connect with ICT and pinpoint exactly what I need, why and the format required. This is a also a winner for the tech guys as they can now spend less time second guessing and more time efficiently drawing the desired date from deep inside their databases.

"BA4BI" should become a brand for this new crossover discipline the author has revealed to me.

Mr. Brijs made a successful attempt to provide practical tips, tricks and hints to translate the strategy process into a business intelligence process.
Not just by using checklists and diagrams but also by underpinning his practical approach with proven economic, technical and organizational behavior theories.

I can recommend this book to managers who want to understand their BI developers better but also the technicians will benefit from this book as they get a clearer view of the context in which their system is being analyzed, designed, built and maintained.

A tip: don't buy the electronic version, you will want the hardcover within reach when you are working on a BI or CRM project.

This book deals with the transition from business strategy to business intelligence.
Most books I have read about this subject were either for dummies or emphasized specific BI software.
However, for me as a consultant and a developer of CRM software, it is much more interesting to understand how BI can be integrated as a part of a business strategy.

In my opinion, Mr. Brijs has succeeded in showing his experience on why and how to use several BI instruments to achieve goals to improve business.

Although the book is quite expensive, the value of the applicable and professional knowledge makes it worth buying.
Besides, it is readable.
